Charcoal.

"When Im walking in the streets of New York, one thing I think is really funny, is to remember its history and how things rise and fall, and then rise again.

Today, the Upper East Side is the most exclusive and expensive neighborhood to live in, but it used to be where all the poor Irish immigrants were forced to go, with the noise from the elevated train every fifteen minutes and industrial dirt everywhere."

- Andy Warhol

This is a piece I did about 4 or 5 years ago in charcoal - not my best work but I recently found it and remembered the quote I wrote to go with it by Andy Warhol.

Truth

Art & Coffee

I recently painted a portrait of Zeenat Aman for my uncle as a gift for his 38th birthday.
He's probably her biggest fan ever - and I haven't watched a single movie that she has starred in. Cringe.
Having said that, I spent two months painting the portrait using nothing but coffee and ink!

R.I.P Mustafa Ghumro

My friends had to bury their 17 year old cousin the day before yesterday - after he got meningitis and was in a coma for a few days.

I cannot fathom how this even happened. How short life is. How much time we waste on being hurt and mourning that than actually living. Going after what we want. Being nice because we have it in us, even if the response won’t be great or what we expect.

Like they say, your smile can brighten up another persons day.

Or how Ashley Judds as Linda Lee Thomas in Delovely was quoted to have said this:
”We live in castles built on sand.”

My heart goes out to them and their family.
Please take out some time to say a little prayer for him - and for his family to have the strength to accept each day without him.

‘Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return’.
